Fabric Collages

These fabric collages are based on drawings I collected whilst walking the perimeter of the Halley Stevensons textiles factory in Dundee, Scotland.

I’ve called them Industrial Dreams because, to me, a factory is a brilliant place of creation and production.

The collages are made entirely from waxed cotton made by the factory; a mixture of standard fabric and fabric rejected by Quality Control for its dye faults (the beautiful swirling colours).

Each mounted on bamboo, Industrial Dreams reduces the factory building to basic geometric shapes and bold, earthy colours.

Sharp outlines, layering and a gentle weighing of colour exist in these collages, as they do in my paintings. In some ways, it’s still painting. But there is something more tactile about the way they are created.

The five fabric collages with be on show at my solo exhibition The Loom Runs. The Smoke Rises at The Meffan Museum & Art Gallery, Forfar.

32x37cm. £60 each.

Please get in touch if you’d like to reserve one.

The backs are quite beautiful too…

Selected Studio Paintings For Sale

Other than through solo and group exhibitions, the best way to purchase my paintings is through New Blood Art. It is here that I show my most recent available paintings.

I also make a selection of my work available through my website SHOP. These works are smaller, often more experimental paintings. They can be studies for larger works, or paintings created for the purpose of being more affordable. My framed mini landscape paintings are £40 and have been popular since I started painting them in December 2017.

There is still a good selection of these available, alongside Liberty Weaveworld (100x30cm) and House On The Hill (35x25cm).

Selected paintings are below or you can see the full range, alongside prints through my website SHOP.
